Product Description

Lanolin is a secreted fat attached to wool. There are two types of lanolin products, namely anhydrous lanolin and water lanolin. The anhydrous lanolin is a pale yellow or brownish yellow ointment; it is sticky and slippery; the odor is weak and specific. Soluble in chloroform or ether, soluble in hot ethanol, very slightly soluble in ethanol, insoluble in water; but can be evenly mixed with about 2 times the amount of water, and has excellent emulsifying properties. Lanolin is not saponified in caustic, but it can be saponified by pressing and heating in a caustic ethanol solution. Strong hygroscopicity. Mp36-42 ° C, acid value is not more than 1.5, saponification value is 92-106 (heating reflux time is 2h when measured), iodine value is 18-35 (measured in the dark place for 4h). The water-containing lanolin is obtained by mixing lanolin and distilled water, and is a pale yellow or off-white ointment having a water content of 25% to 35%. Soluble in ether, chloroform; insoluble in water.
