Astaxanthin is a non-vitamin A source of carotenoid, cannot be converted to vitamin A in animals. Astaxanthin is a kind of fat soluble and water soluble pigment, which exists in shrimp, crab, salmon, algae and other Marine organisms. The human body cannot synthesize astaxanthin itself. It is the most powerful antioxidant found in nature, with 550 times the antioxidant activity of vitamin E.
